Advanced Tech Donates to KIPP WAYS Academy
KIPP West Atlanta Young Scholars (WAYS) Academy Receives Donation from CORE Advanced Technologies
Atlanta, GA (March 9, 2011) – On Friday, December 10, 2010 KIPP WAYS Academy experienced a fire that heavily damaged its building. The weekend after the fire, hundreds of volunteers worked to ensure that a relocation facility was ready for the students to seamlessly return to classes first thing the following Monday morning.
Upon learning about the fire, CORE Advanced Technologies reached out to KIPP WAYS Academy to see how they could help. Headquartered in Atlanta, CORE’s mission is to provide educators, students, vendors, administrators and policy-makers a "one-stop" source for all of their needs in educational technology. Our solutions range from computer hardware for desktops to data centers, cloud computing, to a portfolio of professional services including database consulting, end user help desk, infrastructure and monitoring, managed deployments and virtualization.
In support of KIPP WAYS’ fundamental mission, CORE immediately donated sixteen laptops, a laptop cart and other hardware to KIPP WAYS Academy to help reconstruct their IT infrastructure. CORE plans to continue to partner with KIPP WAYS Academy in the future and grow with them as they evolve into the 21st century classroom.
“KIPP WAYS Academy is to be commended for their Herculean efforts in the aftermath of the fire. We are amazed at their dedication to their students. It is no wonder they are so successful preparing 5th – 8th grade students on the path to and through college. We plan to do everything we can to continue to support them,” said Bill Wallet, President of CORE Advanced Technologies.
Shekhar Iyer, Chief Executive Officer of CORE Advanced Technologies’ parent company, CORE Education and Consulting Solutions (CORE ECS), and Bill Wallet will be meeting with David Jerigan, the Executive Director of KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools, to discuss ways to strengthen the ongoing partnership between the two organizations.
