AC3 - Implementation Models

As you plan your formative assessment program, it may be wise to consider successful current implementation models. Two that serve as exemplary models are the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) state-wide program and the Los Angeles Unified School District’s (LAUSD) periodic assessment implementation.
These models use scanning-based or online testing – retrieving online assessment data immediately, and their scanned data within 48 hours of testing. Both use our on-demand online training and support program to assure faculty confidence and capability. And, both demonstrate that CORE K12's infrastructure is ample and responsive – executing consistently even under the highest of demands.
Texas Education Agency
Adding new functions for TEA’s second year of services, CORE K12 has developed the Universal Screener named MSTAR™ – Middle School Students in Texas: Algebra Ready. Using MSTAR, teachers assess students to determine their understanding of important mathematical knowledge and skills. With this tool, teachers can identify and support students with foundations of success for Algebra.

Los Angeles Unified School District
Now in their fifth year, the district has literally tripled their implementation with not only periodic assessments but also progress monitoring, diagnostic assessments, and end of course exams. And, they are utilizing a California-specific subset of our item bank – 23,000 items aligned to the California idiom and format. Their efforts have been shown to be exceptionally effective – and student progress measured on state summative assessments exceeds the state’s averages across the board.
